To apply, a person must be in good standing in the Marine Corps League for one full year. The applicant must be active in their detachment, invited to join, recommended by the Detachment Commandant, and sponsored by two current members of the Order. Once these conditions are met the applicant will then be interviewed at a Pound Growl (meeting). If accepted, the applicant must participate in an initiation and obligation ceremony. Following this ceremony, the person is now a Pup in the Order.

The Dog must be in good standing in the Marine Corps League and their MODD Pound for one full year. The Dog must be active in their detachment and MODD Pound. Once these conditions are met the Dog may whimper to their MODD Pound Keeper and MODD Dog Robber for advancement to the next Degree. A PUP must be faithful to their MODD Pound for one year to qualify for advancement to Devil Dog, which occurs at a MODD Pack Growl. A Devil Dog (DD) must be faithful to their MODD Pound and MODD Pack for one year to qualify for advancement to Pedigreed Devil Dog, which occurs at a MODD Kennel Growl.
POUND 111 MODD DUES ARE 20 BIG BONES DUE EACH AUGUST BEFORE THE START OF THE NEW DOG YEAR ON 1 SEPTEMBER.
PEDIGREED LIFE MEMBER DUES ARE PAID ONE TIME FOR LIFE. DEPENDING UPON THE AGE OF THE PDD, PEDIGREED LIFE MEMBER DUES ARE 150 BIG BONES FOR AGE UP TO 60, AND 125 BIG BONES FOR AGE OVER 61. DEGREE OF PDD AND PRIOR MCL LIFE MEMBERSHIP ARE REQUIRED.
